Overview
Profit Tools Hosting enables the hosted software to be accessed from most modern desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. The hardware requirements for using the software therefore primarily depend on the practical requirements for the type of intended usage. Usage generally falls into two categories:
- “Workstation Use” (intensive use for a full range of data entry and data lookup functions, from a desktop or laptop computer)
- “Mobile Use” (typically short sessions, often from a portable device such as a tablet, primarily for data lookup functions and little or no data entry) Regardless of intended usage, all devices that use the software must have a reliable internet connection with minimal packet loss and no frequent network dropouts. Frequent network drops / packet loss will be severely disruptive to the user experience and satisfaction in any usage scenario.

Mobile Use
Hardware Requirements
Connectivity using the following devices is only intended for occasional convenience of access to data and is not intended to replace the full functionality of using a laptop or desktop computer. Tablets will generally have a better user experience than phones because of their larger display size. Use of a portable keyboard and/or pointing device attached to your tablet will further enhance the ease of navigation and user experience.
- Compatible Tablet OS (dual core processor models)
- Android
- iPad
- Blackberry PlayBook
- ChromeOS
- Windows 8/RT
- Compatible Phone OS (dual core processor models)
- Android
- iPhone
- Blackberry
- Windows Mobile
Acceptable internet connection speed for Mobile Use depends on user preference and usage scenario, but most 3G and 4G connections, as well as Wi-Fi connections to broadband, will be acceptable so long as they are reliable (not dropping out frequently.)
Although the above mobile OS (operating systems) are compatible for access, Profit Tools does not certify compatibility with any specific mobile device models or suitability of usage on a mobile device for any specific purpose. All navigation capabilities on a portable device are controlled by the Microsoft Remote Desktop app. These capabilities are provided strictly “as-is” and cannot be altered by Profit Tools. Printing from “mobile use” devices such as tablets or phones running Android, iOS, etc. is not a supported feature.
Please note that setup of your mobile device to access Profit Tools Hosting will be different from setup procedures for Workstations. You will use your product’s App Store to install the Microsoft Remote Desktop/RemoteApp for your device, and then configure the connection settings as specified by Profit Tools, rather than launching Profit Tools from a browser.
